UDS lecturers furious about “5kg” rice oil as christmas package; says its an insult to them

Several lecturers at the University of Development Studies (UDS) are boiling with fury after they received their Christmas packages.

According to a reports,the lecturers, who teach at the department of food science, were given 5kg of rice and a gallon of cooking oil each. They were allegedly made to sign before picking their items which they said is ridicule to them by the university.

“Our colleagues in different faculties are getting better packages than this. Some people took full bags of rice and they are just giving this to us”, a lecturer who spoke on grounds of strict anonymity bemoaned.

The matter has created a intense argument on a WhatsApp platform over plans to return the package in disapproval of the quantity they maintained did not suit their position as senior members of the university.

But the president of the University Teachers Association of Ghana at the UDS, Prof. Addah, nonetheless said the package given to the lecturers was acquired from the GHC20 offerings from the lecturers themselves from their welfare fund.
