Former president John Dramani Mahama has responded to President Akufo-Addo’s pronouncement that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will ‘rot’ in opposition.
According to him, Nana Addo is not God to determine who leads the country after the 2020 general elections.
Speaking on his tour of the Eastern region, President Akufo-Addo hit out at the NDC, insisting the party has been peddling lies about his government.
He went on to pronounce that the NDC will stay in opposition for a very long time if it continues with its agenda to make his government unpopular.
“…these are people who are looking at a long period in opposition,” the President said, adding that the NDC will only create, loot and share should they return to power.
Reacting to this, Mahama said President Akufo-Addo is not God to decide who will lead Ghana in 2020.
“When we started our campaign, the president said he would not respond to presidential aspirants but he has since started responding to us and at Somanya, he said NDC would not come to power again, but I say that he is not God, as only God chooses a leader and God is big, so, we are hopeful that the NDC will win the 2020 general elections,” he told some NDC delegates in Bekwai in the Ashanti region.
Mahama, who is currently in the second phase of his Ashanti Regional campaign tour, criticised government for failing to complete the Bekwai Hospital?
According to him, the NPP government has abandoned the Bekwai Hospital, which he said was started under his administration.
